prof. PhD ARKADIUSZ KUBICA – violinist, cameral musician, teacher.

He has been associated with the Silesian Quartet for over 45 years, with which he recorded almost 60 albums, performed 150 world premieres and played over 2,500 concerts on the most important stages in Poland and abroad.

He taught violin and cameral music at secondary music schools in Katowice for 30 years. Currently, he is a professor and Head of the Department of Cameral Music at the Academy of Music. Karol Szymanowski in Katowice, where he is also an interdepartmental lecturer on cameral literature.

Arkadiusz Kubica was an artistic director of the International Cameral Music Festival "Silesian Quartet and its Guests" for 25 years. He also took part on the boards of: the Music Society. Karol Szymanowski in Zakopane (in the years 2018 - 2022 its president), the "Katowice, Nature, Culture" Association.

For his activities, he was repeatedly awarded with state distinctions and artistic awards, including: in 2017 he received: Gramophon Classical Music Award in London for recording the complete quartets by Grażyna Bacewicz (Chandos), Meritorious for Polish Culture, Gold Medal for Many Years of Service, Silver (2008) and Gold (2019) "Gloria artis" Medal, as well as nine times the "Fryderyk" statuette and the Corypheus of Polish Music Award for 2019 in the "Event of the year" category. The recording of all of Mieczysław Weinberg's String Quartets was considered the phonographic achievement of the decade, and the Australian magazine "Limelight" awarded him with the title of Cameral Recording of the Year.
