Mariusz Drzewicki has graduated with  honors from Grażyna and Kiejstut Bacewicz Academy of Music in Łódź, as a student of prof. Tadeusz Chmielewski. At present, he is titular professor and haed of chair of the Piano Department in the parent Academy. Throughout his career, he has perfected his skills on masterclasss run by such prominent pianists as Wiktor Mierżanow and Rudolf Buchbinder. What is more, he has been a scholarship holder of the Ministry of Arts and Culture, Ferenc Liszt Association in Wrocław, Yamaha Music Foundation of Europe and Stiftung für Internationale Meisterkurse für Musik in Zürich. In 1995, he represented Poland in Fryderyk Chopin Pianistic Competition in Warsaw.

For many years, Mariusz Drzewicki has performed as a soloist and chamber musician in Poland and abroad ( Germany, Switzerland, Russia, Austria, Sweden, Latvia, Lithuania Great Britain, Norway, Italy). He has participated in numerous festivals, e.g. Festival of Polish Pianism in Słupsk, Polnishe Tage in Darmstadt, Days of Polish Culture in Tobolsk, Józef Hoffmann International Festival in Nałęczów, International Piano Festival in Bolzano and many others. He has also given many concerts in Żelazowa Wola, the birthplace of Fryderyk Chopin.

Mariusz Drzewicki has co-operated with the National Balet of Latvia in producing a ballet performance based on the music of Fryderyk Chopin. This was also a part of a project realized in partnership with Małgorzata Potocka and Sabat Theatre. Another undertaking worth mentioning is a great Viennese production entitled ‘Scala Soluna di Vienna’.

For a long time, Mariusz Drzewicki has performed chamber music with a violinist, Łukasz Błaszczyk. Together, they performed the premiere of Concertina for Violin, Piano and Symphony Orchestra by Zdzisław Szostak, accompanied by the Orchestra of Łodź  Philharmonic and conducted by the composer.

The pianist has recorded for the Polish Radio and Television as well as the television of Latvia and the Netherlands. In 1999, he released a CD with music of Fryderyk Chopin. In 2010 a DVD has been released with piano compositions by Izaak Albeniz.

Mariusz Drzewicki has also recorded soundtracks for films and cartoons. (‘My Bicycle’, ‘Treflik Family’).

Mariusz Drzewicki has  been an active teacher whose activity goes far beyond the Musical University. He runs workshops, masterclasses and seminars in Poland and abroad (Lithuania, Italy, Spain, Norway). He is also invited to be a member of jury in many  pianistic competitions.
